I became fascinated by event lighting more than ten years ago. As a stagehand, I became accustomed to working in trucks, on small and large stages, festivals, and exhibitions, developing a strong understanding of event workflows of different scales. During this time, I attended short courses such as IPAF and rigging/grounder. I began working with lights for small events, then I spent several years at Swiss TV SRF. While working at a TV station lacked creativity, I pursued my curiosity by delving deeper into journalism. Nevertheless, my passion for atmospheric design through lighting remained strong. That’s why I’ve increasingly found myself drawn to the world of music and theater in recent years, where I’ve developed a strong understanding of scenic lighting design.
On many occasions throughout these years, I improved my live operating and programming skills. I devoted much time to gaining a deeper understanding of lighting equipment and various aspects of light design, including different lighting desks, preprogramming shows, and a proper maintenance of devices. I became familiar with various types of lamps and their unique attributes and applications.
To deepen my understanding of all aspects of event technology, not just lighting, I pursued studies at DEA, the Deutsche Event Akademie, located in Langenhagen, Germany. In early 2020, I successfully completed the exams and earned the Event Tech diploma from Hannover. In 2022, I gained hands-on experience in theatrical and musical lighting operations at the Luisenburg Festival. With a diverse range of experiences in event lighting, I decided to offer my unique approach to illuminating events through my own company, NAJUM GmbH.
